Siblings seek slice of success with new pizza shop

PERKINS TWP. — Brothers Dominic Cominsky and Micah Dezanett know a little bit about business and a lot about pizza. With their combined knowledge, the Fremont-area siblings — who both previously worked in pizza-based restaurants — decided to venture out onto their own and start a new business. This past week, they opened Pizza Boys, off Milan Road (U.S. 250) within a strip plaza beside Kohl's in Perkins Township. After a successful grand opening, which welcomed about 400 customers, Cominsky and Dezanett remain eager to serve additional patrons on a more consistent basis. The restaurant offers both sit-down and local delivery service. "Everyone enjoyed it, and we had a great crew and appreciate their dedication to help us succeed," Dezanett said. The customers "said it was the best crust and sauce they ever had." Pizza Boys makes fresh dough daily "so it can get a good rise," Dezanett said. "We also make our own sauces. We get our classic sauce's tomatoes from California and our 'Pizza Boys' sauce from Ohio." Other than pizza — which includes traditional and gourmet styles, all taking a few minutes to make in a stone-fire oven — the restaurant also sells subs, various appetizers and desserts. Both Cominsky and Dezanett want to do more than simply serve customers: They want to serve their community. "We have had so many people help us out," said Dezanett, who listed Derrick Moore, who owns Derrick's Diner in Sandusky, as a big influence. "We want to donate back to fire departments, police departments, hospitals and also sponsoring teams around the area." Creating a positive reputation both inside and outside of the restaurant's walls plays a pivotal role for prosperity, Cominsky said. "It's all about family," Cominsky said. "We want to help our family and other families. We also want to help change the next generation. We're just people helping people."
