SANDUSKY — James "Jim, Jimmy, Big Wood, Jimbo" Wood, 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, after putting up a tough fight against cancer.He was born July 6, 1959, in Lakewood, Ohio, to Marvin and Janet Wood. He graduated from Westlake High School in 1977 and from Cleveland State University in 1982. Growing up, Jim enjoyed riding his dirt bike and water skiing at his family cottage.On June 20, 1981, Jim married the love of his life of 38 years, Kim Wood. Together they have three wonderful children, Amanda, Hannah, and David "Little Wood."Jim was an operations manager at the Kraft Heinz Company in Fremont for most of his career. He was an incredibly hard worker dedicated to his job and family. He loved watching his favorite Ohio sports teams, especially with his son. He was an avid boater and spent many hours out on the water. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.Jim is survived by his wife, Kim (Wheatley) Wood of Sandusky; daughter, Amanda (Kevin) Lesjak of Avon Lake; daughter, Hannah Wood of Columbus; son, David Wood of Kent; parents, Marvin and Janet (Phinney) Wood of Westlake; sisters, Debbie (Bill) Bowles of Garfield Heights and Jean Kovacic of Westlake; and many nieces and nephews.A Celebration of Life service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Faith Memorial Church, 1320 E. Strub Road, Sandusky.
