Angelica 'Angel' Maria Villarreal

SANDUSKY — Angelica "Angel" Maria Villarreal, 62, residing in Sandusky, unexpectedly passed away late Sunday evening, July 26, 2020, at Firelands Regional Medical Center. Angel was born on April 28, 1958, in Sandusky to the late Leopoldo M. and Hortencia C. (Cruz) Villarreal. Angel graduated from Margaretta High School in 1976 and received her LPN from Lorain Community College. She had previously worked at the Ohio Veterans Home for 20 years, and was currently working at The Meadows at Osborn Park. Angel loved her patients as if they were her own family. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sandusky, where she served in many callings, including a stake missionary. In addition to being a dedicated nurse, she was a strong and passionate woman. Angel enjoyed genealogy, gardening, artistry, especially painting, jewelry and geology. Angel had a beautiful singing voice, a great sense of humor, charismatic and was a wonderful storyteller. She loved to make people laugh and you never saw her without a smile. She loved her family, and they consider her role on this earth fulfilled. Angel is survived by her son, Benjamin "Ben Aaron" (Tara) Villarreal of Norwalk; grandchildren, Sami, Cimara, and JR; sisters, Asusena Brown of Sandusky, Adelina (Walter) Zenowicz of Bellevue, Aida Cambra of Sandusky, Anita (Edward) Burdue of Berlin Heights and Amanda Villarreal of Williston, Ohio; brothers, Leopoldo S. Villarreal Jr., Jose (Liz Fisher) Villarreal and Benjamin (Josefina) Villarreal all of Sandusky; half brother, Juan Mancias of Colorado; aunts, Odilia Cruz and Mary (Joe) Durso; her pit bulls, Petuna and Talia and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to her parents, Angel is preceded in death by her grandparents, Sylvestre and Gregoria Cruz and aunt, Rosie Hall. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2020. The Rev. Robert Coffelt will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
