Magruder Hospital president retiring

PORT CLINTON — The president and CEO of Magruder Hospital, Todd Almendinger, will retire at the end of September. The new Magruder president, taking over on Oct. 1, will be Nick Marsico, currently serving as Magruder's vice president and chief operating officer. Almendinger became Magruder's vice president and chief financial officer in 2006 and then became Magruder's president in 2012. Before coming to Port Clinton, Almendinger was an executive for 18 years at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware, Ohio. Almendinger said he was particularly pleased that while working at Magruder, he eliminated the hospital's debt and strengthened its financial position. The hospital remains debt-free. "I am leaving Magruder in great shape and in solid leadership with Nick at the helm. That makes me feel good in my transition into retirement. Truly, I have enjoyed this last journey of my career, and Magruder will always hold a special place with me," said Almendinger, a Bowling Green State University graduate. Marsico, the new hospital president, is a University of Toledo graduate who came to Magruder in 2005 as the pharmacy director. In 2012, he was promoted to the administrative director of Ancillary Services, and he became the hospital's vice president in 2013. "I am excited and humbled to continue my career with Magruder Hospital. This is a special place, and I'm proud to be part of a team that truly values people, care and safety. I know we will continue to affect the community in a positive way, and work with a vision that benefits all people in our area," Marsico said.
