PREPS: St. Paul volleyball wins Lehman Catholic Invite

SIDNEY — The St. Paul volleyball team won all six sets it played en route to winning the Lehman Catholic Invitational on Saturday.St. Paul opened with a dominating win over Trotwood-Madison, winning 25-5 and 25-9. Against host Lehman Catholic, the Flyers won 25-20 and 25-16.In the title match vs. Minster, St. Paul again won in two games, 25-23, 25-16.Megan Hammersmith had 12 points, five aces and 26 kills for the Flyers across all three matches. Kennedy Stang had 21 points with eight aces and 33 digs, while Holly Powers added 21 kills.Also for St. Paul, Dylian Knoll had nine points, three aces and 72 assists. Brooke Houck had 18 kills and Josie Skinn added 17 digs."I really felt like the Lehman and Minster match were very quality wins for us," St. Paul coach Nancy Miller said. The Flyers (5-1, 2-1) are off until Thursday when they visit Western Reserve (4-0, 3-0)."Western has a lot of players back and this is a good early test for us," Miller said.Monroeville 3, Springfield 1At Holland, Monroeville ran its record to 6-0 with a four-game non-league win over host Springfield. After dropping the first set 26-24, Monroeville settled in to win the next three by scores of 27-25, 25-9, 25-20.Kelsie Palmer had 19 kills and four blocks for the Eagles, and she was also 13 for 14 serving with two aces. Kylee Brooks contributed 14 kills and three blocks, with Camryn Hedrick adding 50 assists and four blocks.Norwalk 2, Crestwood 1At the Norwalk Invitational, the Truckers defeated Crestwood in three sets by scores of 25-20, 16-25 and 25-22. Carly Bilton led the Trucker attack with 11 kills, Olivia Ward and Claire Kelley each had 13 digs and Ward had 25 assists.Norwalk 2, Willard 0Also at the Norwalk Invitational, the Turckers swept Willard, 25-17, 25-23. Delaney Thomas led the attack with 11 kills and Haleigh Skinner led the defense with 11 digs. Ward added 23 assists in the win. GIRLS SOCCERPort Clinton 5, Clyde 0At Port Clinton, Alexis Spears scored two goals to lead the Redskins (3-3) past Clyde. Rebekah Nehls, Avery Joseph and Madison Owen also scored goals. Mattison Koskela had two assists.PC keeper Marie Gluth notched her third shutout of the season. Upper Sandusky 3, Sandusky 0At Upper Sandusky, Mikayla Kelley had eight saves in goal for the Lady Blue Streaks (0-4-1). Sandusky hosts Toledo Scott at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
