Man sentenced to prison for role in Milan Road Bar & Grill shooting

SANDUSKY — A Toledo man will go to prison for his role in a shootout outside a Sandusky bar in 2018.Ryan Anderson, 30, pleaded guilty in Erie County Common Pleas Court Tuesday to one count of having weapons under disability, a third-degree felony. Prosecutors dismissed three other felonies — felonious assault, inducing panic and aggravated riot — relating to the June 24, 2018, shooting outside the Milan Road Bar & Grill.The same day, Judge Beverly McGookey sentenced Anderson to two-and-a-half years in prison.BackgroundThe shootout occurred outside the Milan Road Bar & Grill, 1504 Milan Road, on June 24, 2018. Police and paramedics rushed to the parking lot of the establishment at 1504 Milan Road, formerly the IAB Club, after multiple 911 callers reported multiple gunshots.In 911 calls released by police, people can be heard urging dispatchers to get paramedics to the scene to help people with gunshot wounds."We need an ambulance right now," a man told a dispatcher. "Somebody has been shot. He's shot in the leg. Two semi-automatic handguns were also recovered at the scene.In this file photo, investigators examine the scene where five people were shot near the Milan Road Bar and Grill in Sandusky early Sunday, June 24, 2018.Investigators believe that a fight inside the bar, that spilled into a parking lot outside, led to the shootout.Since the incident, the landlords of the building housing the bar did not renew a lease with the Milan Road Bar & Grill's proprietors.Brandon GreenBRANDON DWIGHT GREENA grand jury in March indicted Anderson and another man, Brandon Green, 26, of Olds Street in Sandusky, on charges relating to the shooting.According to Anderson's plea form, he agreed with prosecutors to testify in the case against Green. Green was indicted on three charges: Inducing panic, aggravated riot and felonious assault, each a felony.Green was supposed to have a jury trial starting Sept. 16. But a court administrator said Green's attorney will be filing to be removed from the case, and a public defender will be assigned to Green, which might delay the trial.Anderson will serve his sentence at the Lorain Correctional Institution in Grafton, and will get credit for 149 days served in jail, according to a sentencing form. As a part of the plea deal, Anderson agreed to forfeit a .357 caliber revolver seized by Sandusky police.
