Farewell, Mark Fogg

SANDUSKY — After a 50-year run on the radio, Mark Fogg decided to dial it down for good. Fogg, a local radio legend who specialized in prep sports with WLEC-AM 1450, signed off one last time on Friday morning. He issued a final farewell during "The Mark Fogg Morning Show." "The whole reason that this has been such a fun ride is the people," said Fogg, who then listed off several influential and important people he's worked with throughout his storied career. Fogg, however, won't fully enter retirement. He still plans on calling high school games on a part-time basis during the upcoming school year. "I am not tired of this job," said Fogg, putting in 45 years at WLEC. "I'm tired of getting up at 3 a.m. I'm going to catch up on sleep." Several radio employees, friends and family members, including Fogg's wife, Laurie, celebrated his final day in the studio. While socially distancing with one another, they reminisced and ate a celebratory cake. "Thanks to everyone who has made this such a fun voyage throughout the years." Top broadcasts During his 50 years on air, Mark Fogg recalled his five most memorable broadcasts: • 1978 — Sandusky High football run that ended with a loss to Cincinnati Princeton at Dayton Welcome Stadium • 1980 — St. Mary Central Catholic regional and state boys basketball championship games • 1983 — Huron girls basketball state championship game • 1986 — Margaretta state football championship game that ended with a loss to Columbus Bishop Hartley • 1999 — Perkins state football championship game that ended in a victory
