Debbie L. Ashley

HURON — Debbie L. Ashley, 62, of Huron, passed away early Monday morning, June 29, 2020, in her home, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Debbie was born May 13, 1958, in Heidelberg, Germany, to James and Mary "Mike" Schafer. Raised in Mansfield, Ohio, Debbie graduated from Malabar High School in 1976 before graduating from Wooster Beauty College. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Mike Ashley, they relocated to Huron, Ohio, and raised two daughters, Whitney and Allie. Debbie and Mike spent 46 years together. Debbie was the office manager at St. Peter Catholic Church in Huron. She was a creative soul, volunteered in countless activities, and loved cooking and maintaining their home in Village Green. Debbie loved beach vacations, rooting for the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes, and her dogs Max and Bo. Most of all, Debbie loved being surrounded by her friends and family. Debbie will be dearly missed by her husband Mike Ashley; daughters, Whitney (Adam) Steinmetz, Allison Ashley; sister, Kim Kuhn; nephews, Collin and Cameron; father, Jim Schafer; mother-in-law, Joan Ashley; brothers-in-laws, Mark (Mary) Ashley and Matthew; nephew, Matt Ashley; nieces, Emily Ashley and Amanda Boyce Ashley; and countless precious friends. Debbie was preceded in death by her mother Mary Schafer; father-in-law, Russell Ashley; brother-in-law, Brian Ashley; and her beloved black lab Cody. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2020, at the St. Peter Catholic Church Gathering Space, 430 Main St., Huron. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the church officiated by Rev. Jeff Sikorski. Burial will follow at Scott Cemetery, Huron.
