Who to call for downed trees, power lines?

SANDUSKY — Due to Wednesday's extensive storm damage to trees throughout Sandusky, a majority of city public works employees have been dedicated to removing trees from wires, streets and sidewalks. For the next several weeks, efforts will be focused on cleaning branches and debris in public spaces, including parks, sidewalks and city properties. Residents and business owners are encouraged to clean up wood and debris from the public right-of-way on their property and dispose of unwanted debris by hiring a private tree service, delivering to the Barnes Compost Facility on Camp Street in Huron, or by enrolling in the city yard waste program for a monthly fee. For any downed trees or limbs on private property, property owners are responsible for removal. People can contact the public works department at 419-627-5829 with questions or concerns.
