Huron husband and wife plead guilty to felonies

SANDUSKY — A Huron husband and wife pleaded guilty to felony charges this week.Stephen Thom, 46, of Darrow Road, pleaded guilty in Erie County Common Pleas Court Thursday to gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony; pandering obscenity involving a minor, a second-degree felony, and; illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material, a second-degree felony. Another 24 felonies were dismissed, according to court records.Michelle Thom, 51, of Darrow Road, pleaded guilty Monday to attempted tampering with evidence, a fourth-degree felony. One child endangering charge and two counts of obstructing justice were dismissed.Stephen Thom was indicted in April on charges relating to alleged sexual contact with an underage girl. Authorities said they also found images of the same girl undressed on Stephen Thom's computer and cellphone.Michelle Thom was indicted in May on charges relating to alleged obstruction during the investigation, according to her indictment.According to Stephen Thom's guilty plea form, the prosecutor and defense lawyers agreed to recommend to the sentencing judge, Roger Binette, that Stephen Thom receive a 10-year prison sentence. The maximum sentence he could receive is 21 years. Michelle Thom faces up to a year-and-a-half in prison.
