Update: Dewey Street shooting victim identified

Update 7:15 p.m.SANDUSKY — A man died Saturday after four shots were fired into a car near Dewey Street.Sandusky Police Chief John Orzech identified the victim as 21-year-old De'Yon Hill.Officers responded to a call just after 1 p.m. about shots fired near the 400 block of Finch and Dewey streets.Police found Hill and a 20-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds in an alley behind Dewey Street that connects Warren and Franklin streets. Hill was still seated in the vehicle.Emergency responders took the victims to Firelands Regional Medical Center, where the man was treated and released, Orzech said. Hill, however, died of a gunshot wound to the chest at about 1:40 p.m., Erie County coroner Dr. Brian Baxter said.Sandusky police are searching for someone believed to be involved in the shooting, but Orzech said he'd call him a person of interest at this time and not a suspect."The detectives are still working on the investigation and establishing a motive," Orzech said.The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) was called to process the scene. Officers found two people suffering gunshot wounds in an alley behind Dewey Street that connects Warren and Franklin streets.Emergency responders took the victims to Firelands Regional Medical Center, where one was treated and released, Sandusky police Chief John Orzech said.The other victim, however, died of a gunshot wound to the chest at about 1:40 p.m., Erie County coroner Dr. Brian Baxter said. Orzech said the victim's identity was still being confirmed and wouldn't be released until the family was notified.Sandusky police are searching for a person believed to be involved in the shooting."We have a person of interest that we're looking for right now," Orzech said.
