Dr. Edward F. Norton

HURON — Dr. Edward F. Norton, 87, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 21, 2019.Cremation has taken place. In accordance with his wishes a private Masonic Service will be performed.Edward was born in Ellwood City, Pa., Sept. 19,1931, the son of Hubert and Minnie Norton. He graduated from Ellwood City High School in 1949. He did his undergraduate at Carnegie University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery at Case Western Reserve. After graduation he moved to Huron and worked as a general dentist for 25 years. He was also a professor at Case Western Reserve and then traveled around the world volunteering his dental services to underprivileged countries and helping in clinics in the prison systems in Ohio.Edward served in the United States Army - Rangers.He was a 50-plus-year member and a Past Master Mason of Marks Lodge 359 F & AM Huron, 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Zenobia Shrine. Also past member of the American Legion Sandusky, Eagle and Elks Lodges.Those left to cherish his memory are son, Chris (Meleah) Norton of Houston; daughter, Kimberly Norton-Raia (Michael) of Delaware, Ohio; three grandsons, Paul Raia, David Raia, Matthew Norton; brother, James Norton of Fombell, Pa.; and nephew, James Norton Jr. of Ellwood City.Edward was preceded in death most recently by his wife, Joann; parents, Hubert and Minnie Norton; sister, Patricia Norton Noneff; brother-in-law, John Noneff; and niece, Diane Norton Mackrell.In memory of "Doc" donations may be made to Heartland Hospice in his name.
