Wedding trends for 2020

SANDUSKY — Planning a wedding is enough to tie most couples' stomachs into knots."A lot of the couples that call us for wedding planning are nervous about trying to please everybody," said Brooke Snider, a wedding planner at Forevermore Weddings. "They need to remember this is their wedding, so do what will make them happy."To help the soon-to-be brides and grooms plan their 2020 wedding, here are some of the top trends according to the experts.Wedding decor"A lot of things are trending toward the rustic boho style wedding," Snider said.For colors, Snider expects many couples to opt for earthy tones, like a rich-shade of orange, with a lot of greenery to match.Lighting is another important part of decor with strung lights and tube lighting growing in popularity at receptions, but candles will always have a place to create a romantic ambiance.FlowersBefore the bride tosses the bouquet, she needs to have the right arrangement. Peonies have become a favorite for brides because of its different shades and folklore that they bring good luck.But Snider also believes many couples may add less traditional options, like pampas grass, to their bouquets and centerpieces."Pampas grass is a kind of wildflower. It's a unique look since its less common here," Snider said.TheKnot.com, a wedding planning website, also lists spray painted stems and dip-dyed petals as a popular way to add color to flower arrangements.ClothesSnider said wedding dresses with sleeves and lace are fashionable right now. For men, suits are moving away from the traditional black with navy blue and light gray as popular alternatives.PhotosThe "first look" photo — when the photographer takes a picture of the groom (or bride) seeing the bride (or groom) for the first time on their wedding day — has supplanted the tradition of the couple not seeing each other until the alter."I don't see the 'first look' photo losing popularity anytime soon," Snider said. "I've also been seeing a lot of wedding parties doing a photo of a champagne bottle being popped.
