Margaretta Township family loses everything in Wednesday morning fire

MARGARETTA TWP. — When a fire gutted their mobile home on Wednesday morning, a Margaretta Township family lost everything."We didn't get anything out," said Tara Taylor, who moved into Greenfield Village Mobile Home Park with her family in 2011.Taylor lived in the home with her husband, 16-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son, she said. While the family owned the mobile home, it was not insured. She said the family is staying with relatives in Castalia, and appreciative of donations from the community and from the American Red Cross.The fire spread to the family's nearby pickup truck before firefighters wrestled it under control. Taylor said the family has another vehicle that was not damaged in the fire.When the fire broke out around 4:30 a.m., Taylor said that she, her son and a neighbor were inside the home. She said she was in her kitchen, cleaning up, when she realized that her living room had filled with smoke.Margaretta fire Chief Tom Johnson said the fire started inside a dryer. Taylor said she washing a load of laundry at the time.Sandusky, Perkins Township and Groton Township firefighters assisted in tackling the fire. Johnson said they spent about 15 minutes getting it under control. Taylor's neighbor suffered smoke inhalation, but was not treated at a hospital.A fire in 2014 similarly destroyed a mobile home in Greenfield Village Mobile Home Park. In that incident, a 72-year-old woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.Taylor said anyone able to help the family rebuild can call her at 419-370-6286."Any help from anyone with anything would be appreciated," she said.A fire destroyed a Greenfield Village mobile home early Wednesday morning.
