Allison Thorson's 'Horses and Horsepower' debuts Thursday night

Allison Thorson is a businesswoman, champion equestrian rider and advisor to a NASCAR Truck Series team. Her newest venture debuts Thursday night on RIDE TV. Thorson is a co-host of a new show called "Horses and Horsepower." The show explores connections between the equine and racing worlds. "Diving into the lives of folks in the equine and racing worlds with one thing in common -- horsepower -- is a one-of-a-kind adventure that I am excited to share with viewers," Thorson said. "Growing up in both the equine and motorsport racing industries allows me to offer a unique perspective to this world, and I am proud to work on a show that combines all of my passions." The idea for the show, which can be seen locally at 8 p.m. on DISH, AT&T U-verse or RIDETV.com, was sparked by the Thorson family, which founded ThorSport Racing and owns ThorWorks Industries, the umbrella company for the family's businesses in the coatings world. ThorSport Racing and ThorWorks are based in Perkins Township. In the first episode of "Horses and Horsepower", Thorson and co-host Emily Williams visit with Taylor Earnhardt, a barrel racer and daughter of the late Dale Earnhardt. "It was evident that synergies existed between the passions and behaviors of equestrian sports fans and motor sports fans, but more than that, there were interesting stories that we really wanted to tell," Ride TV president Craig Morris said in a news release. Thorson, the daughter of Duke and Rhonda Thorson, has been a mainstay in the equestrian world. She is a 38-time national champion and holds 78 world titles, including 12 world grand championships. The Middle Tennessee State University graduate also owns and manages ThorSport Farm, with world-class equestrian facilities in Sandusky and Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The Sandusky location features 20 acres, 22 stalls and an indoor and outdoor arena. At ThorSport Racing, Thorson works with drivers and team members, meeting with potential sponsors and maintaining working business relationships. Allison also maintains brand awareness, conducts community outreach events, including the DARE school program and"Touch A Truck" events, and is also involved in ThorSport future business planning. "I learned what it takes to live the American dream with the examples set by my parents, and I keep those values at the forefront when it comes to growing my career as a businesswoman," Thorson said. "With an upbringing based on strong values, determination, hard work, and enthusiasm, I was fortunate to learn first-hand the many different facets of the businesses and brands my family has established."
