Some Oakland Cemetery rates rising

SANDUSKY — Some rates to bury the dead are rising.During Monday's public meeting, city commissioners approved a price hike for burials on weekends and holidays at Oakland Cemetery on Milan Road (U.S. 250).A new rate structure goes into effect Tuesday."The increase will make us more competitive with surrounding cemeteries while remaining one of the more affordable places to have your services," said Brad Link, the city's public services director who oversees cemetery operations.Link then explained how the city would spend money produced from these raised rates."The money will go into our general fund, which helps cover the cost of employees and equipment used at Oakland Cemetery."In 2015, commissioners supported a 10 percent across-the-board increase for all cemetery-related services.
