Woman's body pulled from Lake Erie

PORT CLINTON — An unidentified woman's body was found floating four miles offshore by a fisherman in Lake Erie. The fisherman reported the body at about 5 p.m. Saturday, Ottawa County coroner Daniel Cadigan told the Register. Cadigan said the cause of death wasn't immediately clear. "I couldn't say for certain," Cadigan said. "There were no signs of external trauma on the body."Authorities weren't able to identify the woman Saturday afternoon. "The body looks like it has been in the water for some time," Cadigan said. The U.S. Coast Guard responded to the fisherman's position, which was about four miles north of the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station on Lake Erie. U.S. Coast Guard personnel brought the woman's body back to shore. The body will undergo an autopsy at the Lucas County Coroner's Office, Cadigan said. The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office and Port Clinton Police Department responded to the scene.
