Three charged for allegedly beating, robbing Erie County jail inmate

PERKINS TWP. — An Erie County grand jury indicted three Erie County Jail inmates who allegedly beat and robbed another inmate in December.The three inmates, identified as Robert Walton, 29, of Bay View; Jory Hall, 30, of Sandusky; and a third man who hasn't been arrested or served with the warrant from his indictment, are all charged with first-degree felony aggravated burglary, second-degree felony robbery and first-degree misdemeanor assault.All three men were secretly indicted during the January session of the grand jury, an Erie County sheriff's report states.The alleged assault occurred in the jail at about noon Dec. 9, according to the report. The incident was recorded on surveillance video.On the video, the three men are allegedly seen entering the victim's cell, the report states.Within a few minutes, Walton and Hall could allegedly be seen assaulting the victim through the cell's window, according to the report."At approximately 11:58 a.m., (the victim's) cell door opens where Walton and Hall are clearly observed striking (the victim) while he is on the ground," the report states. "Walton stops shortly after and Hall continued to strike (the victim) with closed fists and kicked him twice in the head before running back to his cell."The third suspect took a bag allegedly containing the victim's commissary and took it to Hall's cell, according to the report.Walton remains in the Erie County jail on a $32,000 bond for the alleged assault, along with another $95,000 bond on charges relating to an alleged home invasion in Perkins Township last year.Hall has a $32,000 bond listed but remains in the jail on a revoked bond relating to a May 2018 indictment on felony drug trafficking and possession charges, according to jail and Erie County common pleas court records.Editor's note: This article has been updated to correct a suspect's age.
