The latest on Golden Corral and Chick-fil-A in Sandusky

PERKINS TWP. — The Register recently received updates on two national restaurant chains — one definitely coming and one possibly arriving — to the greater Sandusky area.Perkins Township zoning inspector Megan Sherlund provided the latest updates:Golden CorralIn August, the Register reported Golden Corral submitted an application from Golden Corral to renovate 5309 Milan Road (U.S. 250), the space previously occupied by Ryan's, into another buffet-style restaurant. Ryan's closed in September."We spoke with (the) Golden Corral corporate location, and they informed us they will not be open until early summer 2019."Chick-fil-A• What's known: Speculation about a Chick-fil-A coming to the greater Sandusky area is, once again, running rampant.Sherlund spoke about a franchise possibly opening somewhere along Milan Road during a recent public meeting.When asked point-blank if Chick-fil-A would open somewhere in the township, Sherlund said "possibly.""Chick-fil-A has not submitted any plans for a proposed restaurant in Perkins Township," she said. "The community development department has been working with them on the site plan submittal process, so we hope to see plans in the near future."In fall 2017, Goodman Real Estate Services Group LLC of Cleveland sent out an email plugging Sandusky Promenade, a shopping center featuring Chick-fil-A along with TJ Maxx, Five Below, PetSmart and Panda Express.
