Firenza Pizza closed?

PERKINS TWP. — A pizza restaurant in Perkins Township has shut its doors after four months in business.Firenza Pizza, at 901 Crossings Road near Panera, began serving hand-crafted and made-to-order pizzas in June, but the business recently turned off its ovens and locked its doors. The Register was contacted by readers who enjoyed the pizza restaurant's food after they tried to visit the Firenza only to find it was closed. The restaurant was a member of the Erie County Chamber of Commerce."They haven't given us a notice of their closure. I drove through the parking lot last Friday and it was empty, which is odd for a pizza place on Friday," chamber president Pamela Smith said.Smith said she was unable to get in contact with the restaurant by phone and believes it has closed, but wasn't sure if it was permanent or if it was only temporary."Restaurants will close temporarily sometimes if there is a problem with equipment," Smith said.The restaurant was supposed to host a pizza eating competition between Sandusky and Perkins police, but on Oct. 7 the Sandusky police posted on Facebook that the contest had to be rescheduled "due to unforeseen issues with equipment" at the business.The restaurant's phone went straight to voicemail and the building was still closed this week.
