With flavorful foods, SideTrax won't derail your appetite

SANDUSKY — Diners might get sidetracked from ordering their usual meals when looking at this Bay View restaurant's diverse menu.Be it juicy hamburgers, crispy perch and even a savory "Karen's Reuben" sandwich, there's plenty of appetizing options at SideTrax, appropriately named for its close proximity to the railroad tracks.Opened for about three years now, the establishment — formerly known as Hunter's Sports Bar; Fins and Feathers; and R and R — prides itself on offering scrumptious selections at reasonable rates. For instance, on Wednesdays, a fully loaded burger only costs $2.Among the speciality sandwiches served at SideTrax, from left, bologna sandwiches and cheeseburgers."Our customers are good people, and we need to treat them that way," said Keri Lakner, who runs the business with her parents, Duane and Colleen. "Anyone can come in, and the locals will make them feel right at home."The father-daughter duo of Duane and Keri Lakner own and operate SideTrax. Colleen, Duane's wife and Keri's mom, is the establishment's third partner.She singled out Roger Jones, who proudly admits he's posted at SideTrax bar "every day.""They have good food, and the people here are good, too," Jones said.SideTrax, located at 5510 Barrett Road in Bay View, was previously known as Hunter's Sports Bar, Fins and Feathers and R and R.Before managing SideTrax, Lakner previously served for 22 years at Terry's Tavern, now Rayz on the Bay."This is what I have done my whole life, and I enjoy it," Keri said.Keri's experience and enthusiasm are two of the main reasons why Duane, a former Bay View village maintenance worker and Clemons Boat employee, decided to buy the business with his family.He even offers a pretty good guarantee to get people in the door."You need to come out and have a meal here.
