Report: Neighbor kills dog during attack

SANDUSKY — A woman told police she stabbed her neighbor's dog to death after it attacked her dog and bit her arm Sunday.The incident occurred within the 700 block of Fox St. at about 6:15 p.m., according to a Sandusky police report.Officers met with the victim of the dog attack, a woman, who was already being treated at an ambulance, the report states. EMTs counted eight puncture wounds on the woman's arm and a cut on her left hand before they transported her to the hospital. The victim said she was using a knife to cut a plastic tie off of her chain-link fence when she saw her neighbor's dogs in between the neighbor's wooden fence and her chain-link fence, according to the report. One of the dogs, a white and grey pit bull, allegedly went underneath the chain-link fence and entered the victim's yard.The pit bull went after the victims' dogs and bit one of them around its head, according to the report. The victim said she moved in to separate the dogs when the pit bull allegedly lunged at her head, and she used her arm to block the attack.She told police she feared for her life, the report states. Police found two stab wounds on the pit bull.The victim's husband told police their dog was injured from the pit bull's bite, but he believed the dog would be OK.A second neighbor, a man, also went to the hospital with a bite wound from the pit bull he suffered when he said he went into the victim's yard to help, the report states.Police spoke with the pit bull's owner, Elizabeth Franks, 34. Franks told police the dogs didn't have licenses and that she was in her house when the attack started.Another person at Frank's home said she let the dogs out but went to retrieve them after she heard their neighbor's dogs outside, according to the report.
