Art honors animals

SANDUSKY — Carrington Arts' next show goes all-in on an animal theme.Debuting Friday at the downtown Sandusky gallery: a show titled "Fabulous Fauna."Marsha Carrington, who owns Carrington Arts, recruited 15 artists near and far — they hail from Sandusky, Vermilion, Port Clinton, Boston, Los Angeles, Seattle and elsewhere — to participate in this multi-medium display. This would include paintings, photography, ink drawings, mixed-media and more."'Fabulous Fauna' came about not only from my own love of animals but seeing art from many artists this past year whose work either focused on animals, both domestic and wild, or that had a body of work that primarily included animals," Carrington said.For the "Fabulous Fauna" show, debuting Friday at Carrington Arts in downtown Sandusky, 15 artists provided pieces of animal-related artwork for this show. Derek Brennan submitted "Breaking Through" Carrington expanded upon her love for animals."Animals are fascinating creatures. Some, like primates, are human-like, even emotional, and many have distinct personalities, like that of our furry pets, like cats and dogs," Carrington said. "I personally have always had pets that include everything from garden snakes I caught as a child; other reptiles, like frogs, lizards and tortoises; a rabbit; guinea pigs; a horse; as well as many dogs and cats over the years.
