Kart racing coming to Erie County Fair

SANDUSKY — Race down to the Erie County Fair Tuesday to watch competitive kart racers.The Kart Race takes place at 7:30 p.m. in the arena on a 10th-of-a-mile dirt track. The event was organized by Stacy Builders who also helped build the track."This is the first year we've done it in a long time," organizer Mark Stacy said.Stacy teamed with Kit Henry from the Fremont Raceway Park to help promote the race and attract drivers to take part."For the racers, it's little different from what they're used to, and can get them more sponsorship opportunities through exposure," Henry said.The racers mainly come from Henry's raceway as well as the Martinville Raceway in Attica, Ohio, but Henry said drivers from Canada and Michigan may also take part.The races are meant for more experienced racers and to help drum up interest in the sport and help entertain fairgoers."It's a different venue for the racers and gets them in front of more people," Henry said.Henry hopes the drivers will have plenty of spectator in the arena as they all strive to cross the finish line."It's a lot of fun to watch," Henry said.
