Libraries digital offerings never close

SANDUSKY — If your local library is closed or if you're avoiding it to stay away from people, you can still get books, TV shows, music recordings and TV shows. Many libraries have shut down because of the coronavirus outbreak, but digital services available to anyone with a library card who owns a computer, phone or tablet and an Internet connection remain open 24/seven. Here's a quick refresher on what's available: • All local libraries have Hoopla Digital, a service that provides ebooks, audiobooks, comic books, music recordings, movies and TV shows. Hoopla apps are available for phones and tablets and Hoopla also can be accessed on a computer at hoopladigital.com. Sandusky Library allows 10 Hoopla checkouts a month, a generous allotment in comparison to many other libraries. Movies and TV shows checked out on Hoopla can be viewed using a Roku or Chromecast and similar devices. • The Libby app for the Overdrive digital service allows library patrons to download audiobooks and ebooks. Like Hoopla, Overdrive has become available at virtually every Ohio library. • Flipster, available as yet another app, also is available at Sandusky Library and many other libraries.
