SANDUSKY — The upcoming production of "Assassins," a musical review at the Harlequins Sandusky Community Theatre, promises humor, food for thought and a surprising ending, according to two of the actors who portray infamous killers.The Stephen Sondheim adaptation of John Weidman's book by the same name will open at the 97-seat theater at 414 Wayne St. on Aug. 3, with evening performances at 7:30 p.m. also on Aug. 4, Aug. 10 and Aug. 11. The run also includes a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at www.harlequinstheatre.orgAdam Cox, who plays John Wilkes Boothe, the man who killed President Abraham Lincoln in 1865, and Justin Caithaml, who plays Lee Harvey Oswald, the named assassin of President John F. [Youtube=Assassins1] There are nine assassins, or would-be assassins portrayed in what Caithaml describes as a "truly an American musical," including Manson family member Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, who made an attempt on President Gerald Ford's life in 1975."It's part history, part fiction and it thrusts all of them together," Cox said. There's a scene "toward the end where we put all of the assassins in a bar, (and show) what would they do, what would they talk about."
