Cedar Fair hit with wage lawsuit

SANDUSKY — A former employee of Cedar Point's parent company claims she didn't receive payment for overtime. Chloe Liebold, of Green Springs, filed a class-action lawsuit against Cedar Fair in Toledo's U.S. District Court on Tuesday. Liebold worked at Cedar Point from May until August as a special events intern, and her duties involved supervising other seasonal workers who catered events. In the civil complaint, she alleges she often worked more than 40 hours a week, sometimes up to 60 hours. She claims, however, she only received the standard pay rate for hours exceeding 40 per week instead of the time-and-a-half pay established for overtime hours by the Fair Labor Standards Act. The lawsuit asks for Cedar Fair to pay damages, including overtime compensation, wages owed, attorneys' fees and court costs. Attorneys John Coble and Joseph Albrechta represent her. As a class-action lawsuit, additional parties could join the case to claim damages. The civil complaint alleges that affected individuals could exceed 40 people. Judge Jeffrey Helmick took over the case after Judge Jack Zouhary recused himself because of "a financial interest."
