Police identify man hit by train

Updated 6:52 p.m.SANDUSKY — A pedestrian died Saturday after he was hit by a train on the tracks near the Milan Road overpass.Kiel Jackson, 35, died from the injuries he suffered in the collision, Sandusky police Detective Kevin Youskievicz said.The police received the call just after 9:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they blocked off the area surrounding the tracks and began to look for the victim. They found Jackson and took him to Firelands Regional Medical Center."It appears (Jackson) was walking on the tracks and was hit by the train," Youskievicz said.Jackson worked at Kalahari Resorts. His family and friends took to social media Sunday to share their grief.One friend posted on his Facebook page, "Today, I lost one of my best friends … He was a great friend, a proud father and one of the hardest workers I've ever seen … had I known that 48 hours ago would be the last time I saw you, I'd have thanked you for being one of my most trusted friends."Another person posted, "The world is gonna to be a little colder and a little darker without you. One of the best friends I've ever had and it was a privilege to know you homie, I love you Kiel Jackson."Jackson later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. His family identified his body Sunday afternoon.
