The 'S' word: SHAME

Any more now, as in, just about every day now, you're hearing the S-word more and more.That's right!The S word is being launched — 3,2,1, liftoff! into our everyday language from the mouths of people who for some reason will not, do not or cannot take the time in their mind to express a thought that is thought out enough to express a full thought.Shame!Shame on them!Oops!By using the S-word in the same manner as the people I just described using the S-word, it makes me look like I'm full of bullshame.The S-word trend was flying in high orbit last week when on June 19 inside a popular upscale restaurant in our nation's capital, MXDC Cocina Mexicana, demonstrators with the group Metro D.C. Democratic Socialists of America gathered near the table that seated the head honcho of the Department of Homeland Security, Kirstjen Nielsen, and started chanting:"Shame! Shame! Shame!"My first thought was the DHS director must have ordered gefilte fish, chopped liver and matzo balls in the Mexican eatery and the word got out.Then on Friday in Tampa, Florida, protesters confronted Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi at a movie theater showing a documentary about children's TV host Fred Rogers.Guess someone didn't want the Florida attorney general to be their neighbor.Perhaps her Republican stance on immigration and health care is what made her hecklers heckle as she was escorted to her car by Daniel Tiger, Mr. McFeely and King Friday, err, I mean by the police, she without a doubt heard the shouts of:"Shame! Shame on you!"By the way. Part I.I checked. The "shame nun" from HBO's "Game of Thrones" was not present at, ahem, nun of these events chanting "shame" while ringing her bell.By the way. Part II.I checked. None of the above, including Sarah Huckabee Sanders, was "shamed" for their race, religion or sexual orientation.The shaming of the shrew is because they have freely chosen to either be a part of President Trump's administration or have personally defended President Trump's policies.But — and there's always a but.But when the shaming takes place in a public place when a person is tending to private matters, that is not protest …It is harassment.So, it came as no surprise when California's 43rd Congressional District Representative, Maxine Waters (D), talking about President Trump's administration Saturday said:"If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere."Then Congresswoman Waters drank some more beet juice and drop-kicked Arnold Schwarzenegger.Anyway, the same Saturday Congresswoman Waters said what she said, protesters at a migrant detention center in McAllen, Texas, briefly blocked a bus leaving the detention center.Shades of Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, the Border Patrol ended up surrounding the bus so it could back up and go out the other end of the street.Beep! Beep!To which the protesters standing in front of the bus as it backed away yelled at the Border Patrol officers:"Shame on you!"This was yelled to American citizens whose job is securing the land and coastal waters that border the USA in order to protect American citizens from terrorists and their weapons, drug smuggling and illegal entry of undocumented aliens that are not "Mork from Ork."Fortunately, nobody, except for people's feelings, was hurt.This time.Phew!Next week we will celebrate the USA's 242nd birthday. One of the main reasons we have a democracy is because no matter how much our forefathers disagreed with each other, they agreed to work together to make the USA strong.The politicians of the USA need to remember that they not only represent their party, they represent the people of the USA.
