Huron man gets prison for rape, burglary

SANDUSKY — A Huron man will spend the next several years in prison on two felony charges. Conrad Bauman, 33, of Firwood Road, was sentenced earlier this month in Erie County's Common Pleas Court to a minimum of five years and a maximum of seven-and-a-half years on one count each of rape and aggravated burglary, both first-degree felonies. The sentence was delivered by Judge Beverly McGookey. Bauman's charges stem from an incident on Milan Road in Sandusky in May 2019, where Bauman was accused of entering a woman's home without permission and raping her. The five-to-seven-and-a-half-year prison sentence was recommended by Bauman's attorney and prosecutors when he pleaded guilty in January, according to his guilty plea form, dated Jan. 7. When released, Bauman will have to register as a sex offender every 90 days for life, his sentencing form states. He also won't be allowed to live within 1,000 feet of a school or daycare center. Bauman will serve his sentence at the Lorain Correction Institution in Grafton. He will get credit for more than 240 days served in the Erie County Jail. Jail records show he was released from the facility on Wednesday.
