Learn the legend behind the historic Gilchrist Guest House

Join Annie, Lisa and Co. as the explore the Gilchrist Guest House and Bed and Breakfast as part of their History and Haunts series. "The Gilchrist House has a huge history," said Ann Tarpley of Annie, Lisa and Co. "It's fun and exciting to learn about the history of the building."Located at 5662 Huron Street, the Gilchist House was originally built by Captain J. C. Gilchrist in 1885 and was home to him, his wife and their seven children. In the early to 1900s, the house was converted hotel and then in 1940 to apartments. It wasn't until 1990 that it became the bed and breakfast that it is today. Throughout the years, many guests of the bed and breakfast have reported odd happenings and the feelings of spiritual presence in certain rooms during their stay. "When you go into the history of a building or area," Tarpley said. "You can find a lot of information that relates to alleged hauntings."This Sunday, Annie, Lisa and Co. will be guiding a tour through the Gilchrist House and discussing in depth it's history along with the documented paranormal experiences that have been reported. "We will be speaking on the history of the house, the alleged ghosts and Captain Gilchrist's shipwrecks, including the ghost ships which are seen even today."Things kick off at 2:30 p.m. and will last approximately an hour and a half. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at the door the afternoon of the event.Additionally, the Gilchrist House Bed and Breakfast will be offering %50 discounted room rates the night of the event.
