Port Clinton High School to revamp football stadium

pfanner@sanduskyregister.comPort Clinton High School is set to renovate its football stadium.Work should begin in the coming weeks, with a planned finish date set for late July or early August."We're still sifting through the bids," Port Clinton superintendent Patrick Adkins said. "All of the bids came in on Thursday and we will enter into contracts in the near future."The renovation will include installing a turf field, an eight-lane track, new grand stands and adding a small locker room. The stadium would also become the home field for Port Clinton's soccer program."We've faced some challenges with the current soccer field as its become a dated facility," Adkins said. "Boys and girls teams play on it and there have been some scheduling issues that needed to be worked out in the past."Adkins also said the school will finally be able to host meets with the added track lanes.The project is being funded by the Port Clinton Athletic Complex Association, sponsorships, donations, and the district, which put $500,000 toward the new grand stand. "We're very excited for the work to begin," Adkins said. "I'll be able to give more details, including finalized figures, after we enter into contracts."
