Police arrest men found unconscious in car

HURON TWP. — Police arrested two men Saturday after they were allegedly found unconscious in a car in the middle of the road. Deputies also learned the car allegedly hit a mailbox moments before they arrived.Justin Hinkle, 21, of the 400 block of West High Street in Willard, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, failure to control a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and driving under suspension.Patrick Kennelly, 51, of the 9000 block of River Road in Huron, was charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated.Deputies were called to the Huron Avery and Fox roads for a car stopped in the road with its engine revving, according to an Erie County sheriff's office report.When deputies arrived, they found two men inside the car passed out and revived the driver, identified as Hinkle, with sternum rubs, the report states. Hinkle awoke and allegedly became "immediately belligerent," and allegedly attempted to put the car in drive.Deputies took Hinkle out of the car and put handcuffs on him. They also arrested the passenger, Kennelly, who allegedly did not cooperate with deputies.After they took the men to the Erie County jail, members of the Huron Fire Department notified deputies they found a mailbox in the 2400 block of Huron Avery Road that was apparently run over, according to the report.
