Couple arrested for ongoing child abuse

astolfi@sanduskyregister.comA man and woman have been arrested in connection with a July child abuse case, after officials found a one-year-old with numerous injuries at a Perkins Township home.The child's mother, Tamra Lambert, 26, of Gallipolis, was arrested Tuesday on second-degree felony charges of felonious assault and child endangering.Meanwhile, Seth Fox, 19, of the 6500 block of Milan Road, was arrested in late December on charges of permitting child abuse and complicity to child endangering.In July, Erie County social workers were called to Fox's U.S. 250 home after a concerned individual asked them to check on the well-being of a young child living at the residence.When Children's Services workers arrived, they found Lambert's one-year-old with numerous bruises all over the body, Perkins police Detective Jonah Roesch said."At that time, Children's Services took emergency custody of the child," Roesch said.The couple later offered several explanations as to why the child was injured, according to the detective. They first argued that the child had knocked items over and received injuries that way. They then alleged the child fell while in Lambert's grasp, Roesch said.But the child was later checked out by medical personnel due to the extensive injuries, and a pediatric expert ultimately determined the couple's stories didn't check out."(The doctor) indicated that due to the different ages and healing of the bruises, the number of bruises, and the location of the bruises, that abuse had taken place," Roesch said.The case was presented in December to an Erie County grand jury, who then opted to indict both fro their alleged roles in the abuse.Lambert remains at the Erie County jail on a $60,000 bond.
