Wreaths across America at Sackett Cemetery

Sackett Cemetery was among the many participating in Wreaths across America on Saturday. Many showed up to honor those veterans who have died, prisoners of war or missing in action.The ceremony was opened by Gary Cagle from the Ottawa County Veterans Service Commission welcoming all those who were in attendance.The parade of colors was presented by the Marblehead American Legion Post 555 and the VFW Post 7572.Danbury High School choir members Bridget Sowers and Bree Welch gave their rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner", followed by Paster Thomas Brown with the invocation.Members of Post 555 were asked to place a wreath for each government service. Those who placed wreaths were Joe Stys, Army; William Hall, Navy; Gary Cagle, Marine; Lloyd Dayton, Air Force; Richard Kracer, Coast Guard; Marty Stys, Merchant Marine and Donald Kortan for the more than 90,000 POW/MIA armed service members who have never returned home.Volunteers and family members distributed wreaths onto the fallen soldiers graves including Dave Taylor with his son Josh from the Marblehead Scout Pack 331.
