David R. Markley Sr.

David R. Markley Sr., 90, of Bellevue, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, in the Willows.He was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Cadiz, Ohio, to Ray D. and Helen Louise (Shivers) Markley.David attended the First United Methodist Church in Bellevue and the First Presbyterian Church in Clyde. He graduated from Cadiz High School in 1942, Muskingham College in 1949, and later earned his master's degree from University of Dayton. He was a CPA, retiring from O.M. Scotts in Marysville. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.On June 17, 1950, he married Margaret (McFadden). She preceded him in death Aug. 15, 2008.Survivors include their children, David (Kathryn) Markley Jr. of Dumfries, Va., Bruce (Susan) Markley of Berryville, Va., Elaine (Ohlen) Brock of Bellevue; grandchildren, Meghan (William) Engler of Boston, David "Edward" Markley of Dumfries, Adam (Rachel) Brock of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Nathan D. Brock, currently serving in the U.S. Army; his sister, Mary Markley of Cadiz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the funeral home, Rev. Don Spurlock officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue City Cemetery. Military graveside services will be provided by the Bellevue V.F.W., American Legion and Four County Marines.Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association, or Stein Hospice.Condolences may be shared with the family at auxterfuneralhomes.com.
