Paul Robert Wieber

Paul Robert Wieber died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. His family was at his bedside in Silver Spring, Md. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Jean Wieber; his daughter, Paula Sue Wieber (David Richardson); son, Jerome Paul Wieber (Tricia Wieber); and grandchildren, Nicholas Richardson, Anne Richardson, Kathryn Wieber and Samantha Wieber. His eldest daughter, Anne Marie Wieber, predeceased him in 1989.Paul was born Feb. 1, 1936, in Sandusky. He earned his Ph.D in chemical engineering from University of Toledo. Paul dedicated 40 years of his life to federal service through NASA, EPA, ERDA and the Department of Energy in DC, and finally in Morgantown, W.Va, as the deputy director of the Morgantown Energy Technology Center (METC). He and Marilyn retired to Chapin, S.C., where he was the secretary of the Chapin Rotary Club for many years. In April 2014, Paul and Marilyn moved to Silver Spring to be closer to Jerry's family and to facilitate his Johns Hopkins cancer treatment. Paul was a smart, compassionate, loyal, incredibly funny man, in love with his family and anything having to do with science. He loved music, movies, traveling, good food, his grandkids, fishing, sports cars, the comics, bad jokes ... the list is too long.
