Inmate assaulted in Wednesday morning brawl

An Erie County inmate suffered a fractured bone Wednesday morning in an apparent jail fight.Bernard Hall, 22, of the 1100 block of McKinley St., sustained a fractured orbital bone at about 9:30 a.m. in the Erie County jail living quarters, according to a deputy's report.When Hall first reported his injuries, he told jail personnel he needed to go to the hospital for an asthma attack, but guards soon noted injuries on his face.After giving several different stories, Hall eventually admitted Samuel Terrell, 23, of the 1300 block of E. Larchmont Drive was allegedly to blame.A fight broke out in their pod, then continued inside one of the cells, Hall said.The case will be forwarded to a grand jury, but similar incidents have often resulted in a felonious assault charge.Terrell was shipped off to Lorain Correctional Institution to serve a sentence on a non-related, domestic violence incident later on Wednesday. His transfer just happened to coincide with the fight, deputies said.Hall was treated for a concussion and received stitches at Firelands Regional Medical Center before heading back to jail.He remains behind bars for an alleged Christmas-night shooting incident.TerrellHall
