Woofstock returns to Norwalk to raise money for humane society

NORWALK — Here's a charity event where you can have a good time — and your dog can, too.Woofstock, an annual fundraising event for the Huron County Humane Society, will occur from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the shelter, 246 Woodlawn Ave. in Norwalk.The event for all ages will feature food trucks, games, face painting, vendors and access to Conway Dog Park for your dog. Chase, Marshall and Skye from the PAW Patrol animated TV series will be there, courtesy of Fairytale Royal Parties, LLC.To be admitted to the dog park, you will need your dog's current and up-to-date shot record and the dog's 2018 dog license. Everyone is welcome, including people (and dogs) from outside Huron County.Woofstock has been an important fundraiser for the Huron County Humane Society for several years, said Darla Gow, community development director for the group.Tickets will be sold for the games and activities, and the group will get a percentage of the money made by the vendors and food trucks, Gow said.The humane society takes in hundreds of animals each year, adopting them out to permanent homes.The shelter is holding about 22 animals — mostly dogs and cats, but also a rabbit and a gerbil, Gow said.The society operates a no-kill shelter, so animals are kept as long as necessary until a home can be found. Gow estimates on average animals stay for about three months, but the time varies.
