Steel Vengeance open today

Steel Vengeance, Cedar Point's new roller coaster, was back up and running late Saturday and will be taking riders today. "The ride has re-opened and is scheduled to open (Sunday)," park spokesman Tony Clark told the Register at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.The ride was closed Saturday at about 1:30 p.m. after one train lightly bumped a second train inside the station. No injuries were reported. One park guest who provided an eyewitness account of the minor accident on Saturday, was there when the ride re-opened. "#SteelVengeance running sporadically throughout the night for testing. RMC, Irvine Ondrey, and CP management on-site. Park definitely working to get back up and running," Columbus resident Matt Stephens-Rich posted on Twitter at 5:14 p.m.RMC and Irvine Ondrey are the construction and engineering firms that built Steel Vengeance from the bones of the old Mean Streak roller coster. It's billed as the world's tallest, fastest and steepest-drop hybrid steel and wooden roller coaster. It also is the world's longest ride — at 2:30 — for a hybrid rollercoaster. In a later post, Stephens-Rich said some guests were able to ride Steel Vengeance before the park closed for the day on Saturday.
