Dorin-Lizzi carves out first 300 in women's tournament history

The first 300 game in the history of the Sandusky USBC women's bowling tournament is the focal point of the 87th annual event, held this year at Riverview Lanes. Cathy Dorin-Lizzi exploded for the perfect game Feb. 9 in Division A singles firing on the way to one of several individual crowns. Dorin-Lizzi rattled off 218-300-181 for a 699 series on a 229 average. The 699 total was good enough to win handicap division honors in addition to the actual pin award. She was also crowned the all-events champion for actual pins at 2,107 with 723 in the team event, 685 doubles and the 699 in singles. Dorin-Lizzi was also a member of the Jim's Gems entry that won the actual pin title at 2,919 and placed second in handicap with 3,106. She will also be honored Sunday by the Ohio State Women's Bowling Association when she is inducted into that group's Hall of Fame.The Division B (for bowlers with 159 averages and lower) all-events champion for 2014 is Brooke Payne, a 156 average bowler who collared 547 in the team event, 633 in doubles and 500 in singles for 1680 actual, and 2,031 with handicap.There was just one division for the teams and McPc Imaging Printing captured the handicap division crown with a 3189 series.Tricia Janshego (173) posted 179-200-212—591 while Teresa Coffman (157) added 213-190-149—552, Gina Vincent (172) 211-181-145—537, Deena Torres (154) 168-199-156—523 and Payne 169-479.For The Gems, Dorin Lizzi clicked off 248-257-218—723 and Andrea Carter (194) 183-225-235—643. Tricia Janshego (173) contributed 179-147-203—529, Sarah Baker (175) 168-168-188—524 and Rachel Meyer (157)-179—495.In third place, at 3040, was the Beer Nuts entry. Vesta Whyde (172) tallied 161-21-182—558, Payne 158-237-152—547, Monica Seitz (191) 201-149-189—539, Meghaan Nestor (172) 199-161-173—533 and Krista Biddle (135)-135—395.In Division A doubles (for teams with averages of 301 and over), Ashley Robles and Holly Stout combined for 1,265 actual and 1,328 with handicap. Robles (199) pitched 247-277-237—761 and Stout (177) added 163-202-139—504.Jocelyn Perdue and Ashley Stookey finished second at 1,314 while Janet Post and Melinda Beat wound up third with 1,300.Perdue (166) collected games of 237-181-224--642 and Stookey (143) added 160-429. Beat (196) also had a very good day with 223-218-234--675 and Post (137) chipped in with 157-445.In Division B doubles (for entries with a 300 combined average or lower), Teresa Street cashed in 249-161-138—548 on a 154 mark and Ida Kusser (129) added 150-155-134—439 for a winning score of 1,302.In second place, at 1,241, is the duo of Alexis Cantley and Lynda Evans. Cantley (113) hit 110-174-164—448 and Evans (156) 138-141-163—442.Karalee Siesel (165) was runner-up to Dorin Lizzi in Division A singles at 675. She compiled games of 211-176-195—582 on a 165 mark. Carter finished third at 642 with 238-191-198—627 on a 194 average and Ashley Robles ranked fourth at 639 with 221-175-243—639 on the 199 mark.Post edge out Sue Riebold for the Division B singles title. Post toppled 141-183-140—464 on a 137 average for 632 and Riebold recorded 155-127-158—440 on a 129 mark or 629Payne and Rachel Meyer were next in line at 617 and 607 respectively. Payne marked 151-161-178—500 and Meyer (157) had games of 167-158-168—493.
