Show promises 'experience like no other'

SANDUSKY — Get ready for an experience like no other. The Sandusky Cultural Center will present "Between Fear and Feast" and the return of the "Cleveland Artifact Machine," an interactive art exhibition where creativity meets nostalgia. A transformed 1960s cigarette vending machine now dispenses exclusive art pieces. Conceptualized by artist R!ch Cihlar, the "Cleveland Artifact Machine" features 22 renowned artists who've created small-format works of art packaged to fit within the cigarette machine's slots. Expect to find a diverse array of art forms, including paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures and mixed media. Guests can choose an artist's slot, buy a ticket for the slot, pull the knob and, voilá, a unique piece of art emerges packaged perfectly in a retro cigarette box. Each purchase is only $10, and participants will also receive a commemorative "Cleveland Artifact Machine" coin as a keepsake. Only cash and personal checks made payable to the artist are accepted. Since the Sandusky Cultural Center never takes any commission on work sold from our gallery, we are unable to process credit or debit cards or electronic transfers. Don't miss out on this unique blend of art, fun and chance. Be part of a one-of-a-kind event where art literally pops out at you. Expect some artists' slots to sell out quickly, and plan to arrive promptly on the opening day. Join us for an unforgettable experience. Participating artists include Jeffrey Balazs, Marsha Gray Carrington, R!ch Cihlar, Jacob Dawkins, Danny Frank, Jared Gepperth, Alexander Haines, Josh Haplea, David Hobbs, Nina Vivian Huryn, Sean Jason Kelly, George Kocar, Randy Maxin, Charles T. Mayer, Billy McKay, Billy Nainiger, James Ward Peake, Marcus Schafer, Andrew Shannon, Will Wilson, Mark Yasenchack and Steve Ziebarth. In addition to the artifact machine art, several of the artists are exhibiting other works that are available for purchase. Donna Coleman, Gregg Wayne Mello and Jeff Yost have work included in this part of the exhibit. The Sandusky Cultural Center has a partnership with the Sandusky Witches Walk, serving our youth and seniors through the magic of community and an official passport stop of the seven wonders of Sandusky. The Sandusky Cultural Center is located adjacent to the Sidney Frohman Planetarium at the rear of Sandusky High School. "Between Fear and Feast" will run through Nov. 22 and is open to the public free of charge from 1-4 p.m. on Sundays and noon to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. Please join us for an opening reception with the artists from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18. Light refreshments will be available. People can visit facebook.com/sanduskycc for more information.
