Help 'Fund the Future'

SANDUSKY — A local nonprofit will host a fundraiser in support of Sandusky Schools. The Sandusky Education Foundation invites community members to support Sandusky Schools through its first Fund the Future Fundraiser. It takes place from 6:8-30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15 at the Sandusky Yacht Club, 529 E. Water St., Sandusky. Funds raised will support teacher grants and other initiatives, all enhancing educational opportunities for district students. While the event is open to anyone, people must purchase tickets ahead of time at givebutter.com/FundTheFutureSEF. People who can't attend can also make a donation there. Organizers created the fundraiser with a goal of bringing community members together to invest in the future generation, according to an event statement. At the event, donors can direct their dollars to specific initiatives. For instance, they can: • Support grant requests submitted by teachers; This would include classroom technology, educational software, STEM and art initiatives • Contribute to the Streaky Bear book initiative. • Make a general donation to the organization's mission In addition to donation opportunities, there will be heavy hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine, networking opportunities and highlights of the foundation's past work and plans for the future. The organization has supported the district and its stakeholders in many ways, such as through community tennis courts, art sculpture and the Sandusky Aquatic Center. It is now aiming to support students through the classroom. "Great schools require great community support," foundation treasurer Tessa Steinemann said. "Fund the Future is an opportunity for individuals, businesses and community partners to come together and invest in opportunities that help students learn, grow and succeed."
