Norwalk overwhelmed in 63-7 loss to Columbian

TIFFIN — Norwalk found itself down three touchdowns not even halfway through the first quarter Friday at Frost-Kalnow Stadium. Things didn't get much better as Tiffin Columbian routed Norwalk 63-7 in Northern Ohio Conference Lake Division play. The scoring was often for the Tornadoes as Logan Gooding found Blake Miller in stride for a 26-yard touchdown 1:02 into the game. After a Norwalk (0-7, 0-2 NOC Lake) fumble at its own 8, TC (5-2, 2-0) capitalized as Gooding found Miller again for a five-yard touchdown and then DaZarius Russell ran back a punt 64 yards for a score. Masen Seitz then ran in scores of 9 and 14 yards to make it 35-0 after one quarter. "Our big thing this week was that we saw guys get better consistently every day," Truckers coach Keith Mora said. "We had some issues we wanted to clear up after last Friday, so we had a team meeting to recognize the non-negotiables, and I recognize people don't see that during the game necessarily, but it's about doing things the right way. "We had a lot to prepare for this week and I thought we looked better in some of our passing game stuff, which is something we've struggled in this year, but I thought we did some nice things, but we still have some self-inflicted wounds, and that's due to playing such young guys in positions where maybe they're a year away from being ready to do." Braden Egbert ran in a nine-yard touchdown and then Andrew Newman scored on a 2-yard rush for a 42-0 halftime advantage. Norwalk got on the board with a two-yard touchdown run by Lyric Shipp late in the third and then TC's Landon Richardson capped the scoring with a 36-yard touchdown run. The Truckers have Perkins, Sandusky and Clyde left. "We just have to make sure these guys leave the program better than when they started. I know it sounds cliché," Mora said. "Doing things the right way, knowing they move the program in the right direction. I know that's hard to see when you have no wins, but it's about doing things the right way behind closed doors and in the offseason."
