Pelz Lettering Shirt Shack is back

PERKINS TWP. — The message didn't need to be inscribed on a piece of clothing for Pelz Lettering Shirt Shack management to understand what must happen.They knew a bigger storefront to create, process, print and store merchandise would better serve their customers.The family-run, second-generation business, which debuted in 1979, recently moved down the street on Milan Road (U.S. 250) within a plaza's storefront behind Mad-River Harley Davidson.A larger space presents so many advantages to produce higher quality products, according to store manager Matt Koehler, for T-shirts, sweatshirts, polos along with varsity jackets and team uniforms of local school districts."We can do so much more in here," said Koehler, adding his team of about 10 workers enjoy larger workspaces, be it in the warehouse, production area, embroidery section or showroom for customers. The move created about 5,000 extra square footage, or 50 percent more space, compared to its previous location, across the street from Outback Steakhouse.A company statement characterizes the business, owned by Kevin Pelz, as a "full-service apparel embellishing operation. Along with being the largest screen printer in the area, we also offer in-house embroidery, rhinestones, direct-to-garment printing and the ability to use vinyl to put names and numbers on garments for that extra personalization."Pelz Lettering Shirt Shack is at 5500 Milan Road (U.S. 250) Suite No. 250.
