Injuries not life-threatening

Kaitlin Tuttle, 20, was flown by medical helicopter to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. The hospital would not provide an update on her medical condition, but her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Tuttle's passenger — her mother, Rebecca Tuttle, 54 — also sustained injuries and was taken by ambulance to The Bellevue Hospital. Her injuries were not life-threatening. Witnesses told Erie County deputies that Kaitlin's Chevy Aveo was headed south on Billings Road when at about 12:30 p.m. the car pulled out in front of a Ford L8000 dump truck that was headed west on Portland Road. The dump truck smashed into the driver's side of the Aveo. On impact, the Aveo slammed into a mailbox before coming to rest in a yard near the intersection. The driver of the dump truck, Christophe Royster, 42, of Sandusky, was taken by ambulance to Firelands Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries.Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth said drugs or alcohol were not suspected factors in the crash. About two hours later, emergency crews in Sandusky County were called to the scene of a one-vehicle crash on County Road 175, near York Township. Two 16-year-old Bellevue boys sustained minor injuries when their truck went off the road and flipped. They were both taken by ambulance to Bellevue Hospital as a precaution. Monday night, meanwhile, a Norwalk woman was seriously injured in a crash in Ridgefield Township. Theresa Franz, 49, was driving a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am that went off Washington Road at about 9:40 p.m., overturning several times, according to the Highway Patrol. Franz was thrown from the vehicle and sustained critical injuries. She was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, where late Tuesday she remained in critical condition. Alcohol was likely a contributing factor in that crash, which remains under investigation, according to the Highway Patrol.
