Perkins up to No. 3 in football poll

Following a tough 10-3 road win over rival Bellevue, Perkins moved up to No. 3 in Division IV in the state football poll released Tuesday. The Pirates are 5-0 ahead of Friday's Northern Ohio Conference Lake Division road game at Clyde. After defeating previous Division III No. 1 Steubenville 41-13, Indian Valley jumped from No. 3 in Division IV to No. 1. Indian Valley defeated Perkins in the 2024 Division IV state championship game. The 10 points scored by the Pirates in their win over Bellevue were the least Perkins has scored in a win since defeating Margaretta 6-0 in 2011. Perkins checked in at No. 1 in Region 14 in the OHSAA's first computer points rankings of the season. Port Clinton dropped from No. 12 to No. 13 in the Division V poll. The Redskins defeated Clyde 24-10 last week, improving to 5-0. Port Clinton hosts Huron (0-5) to begin NOC Bay Division play this week. Margaretta is ranked No. 17 in Division V. The Polar Bears improved to 4-1 last week with a 41-6 road win over St. Thomas Aquinas. Margaretta travels to Lakota (3-2) to open Sandusky Bay Conference action Friday. Other No. 1 teams in the state are Cincinnati Elder (Div. I), Bishop Watterson (Div. II), Bellbrook (Div. III), Perry (Div. V), Liberty Center (Div. VI) and Marion Local (Div. VII). Computer ratings Area teams joining Perkins in the top 12 in computer points in their respective regions include Bellevue (No. 9 in Division IV Region 14), Port Clinton (No. 5 in D-V Region 18), Vermilion (No. 6 in Region 18), Margaretta (No. 10 in Region 18) and Monroeville (No. 11 in D-VII Region 25). The top 12 teams in each region qualify for the playoffs. The top four get byes in the first round. Glenville up to Div. III After consolidating with fellow Senate League school Collinwood this past summer, it was announced Tuesday that Glenville will play in Division III for the 2026 season. They will compete in Region 9. The Tarblooders are the reigning Division IV state champions, defeating Shelby 45-7 in last season's championship game.
