Kansha grateful to serve community

PERKINS TWP. — They offer high-quality hibachi dishes without the wait or need to fill an entire 10-seat table. And they're appreciative to continue pursuing their passion while serving food in a new location. Earlier this year, spouses Imade Subrata and Kassandra Harder relocated their restaurant, Kansha Hibachi Express, from Port Clinton to the Sandusky area: 2904 Milan Road (U.S. 250) in a plaza beside Little Caesars near Starbucks. "It's a great location and way bigger than our old spot," Subrata said. "Before we survived on one grill that was 48 inches (4 feet long). Now we have four grills, which is good for business." Both boast many years of experience in the food industry. They actually first met while working at Nagoya Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi. Yet each wanted to begin a new venture together for their family, which includes their young son, Jaxson. So, in May 2025, they took the skills and business acumen previously learned to open Kansha, which, translated from Japanese, means "deep gratitude, thankfulness and appreciation," said Harder, noting Kansha moved to its present-day home within Perkins Township in May 2026. "It's not like 'arigatou,'" Harder said. Kansha "shows a deeper depth into our appreciation and thankfulness from the support of our new community." Harder then pointed out what makes Kansha stand out from other places serving hibachi. Besides the fact that Subrata himself — ever since immigrating to the U.S. from Indonesia 20 years ago — is a trained hibachi chef, Kansha allows customers to customize their dishes, tailored to their specificities and preferences. "We let you build it yourself," said Harder, noting the hibachi dishes feature staples like chicken, shrimp, pork and steak along with vegetarian and gluten-free options over a bed of fried rice. "We pride ourselves on different flavors and generous portions. People never leave our place hungry." Plus there's no wait, Subrata said. "You can come in right away. You won't have to wait two hours like at a normal hibachi place. And you don't need to have a bunch of other people wth you," Subrata said. "We serve real food here. It's fresh. It's not processed. We want to make sure you will be happy. And, if not, let us know how we can make it better. I want to make it right for our customers." Beyond hibachi dishes, Kansha also offers: • Appetizers, like spring rolls, egg rolls and crab rangoon • Korean barbecue with a base of chicken, pork or steak • Bubble teas, which can incorporate different styles of teas, fruits and toppings • Dessert options "No matter what you get, you will get your money's worth," Subrata said. Added Harder: "We let our food speak for itself. I know it sounds cliché, but it's true. We wanted to give something to the community that people would enjoy." Right now, Kansha welcomes people inside from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily "People should come to Kansha for the experience, warmth, positivity and good food," Harder said.
