Have a ton of fun at Sanduskyton

SANDUSKY — This week, downtown Sandusky will trade its ordinary hours for a season worthy of the ton. Sanduskyton — a Regency Era-inspired community celebration, dating back to the early 1800s — arrives with a week of specially themed dining, starting today through Saturday, capped by a free-flowing afternoon festival on Saturday. The Regency Era is a historical period, largely within the early 1800s, from England. Organizers wanted to give Sandusky something it has never seen before: a whole downtown reimagined as its own corner of the Regency Era with every shop, restaurant and street corner playing a part. At its heart, this is a celebration of our downtown and the local causes that make it worth celebrating. Sanduskyton is presented in partnership with A Clean Peach Foundation and the Sandusky State Theatre with proceeds supporting both organizations alongside the event itself: • The Clean Peach Foundation, a soon-to-be created local nonprofit, is geared toward the next generation of young girls to talk openly about hygiene and self-care. • And the Sandusky State Theatre, amid its long rebuilding process, will receive proceeds to support future programming at the venue. Blending themed dining, live performance and community spirit, the event welcomes residents and visitors to experience the season together while supporting two local causes. Learn more at sanduskyton.com. Saturday celebration The Saturday celebration runs from 3-7 p.m., transforming the heart of downtown into a living period drama. Guests can enjoy: • Live performances from the Harlequin Sandusky Community Theatre and Annika Campbell of the Caryl Crane Youth Theatre • Ballroom dancing at The Emporium at West Market Street • Charming tea gardens • Open-air markets • Strolling quartets • A best-dressed competition inviting everyone to dress the part Washington Park anchors the celebration with activities, performances and experiences taking place throughout familiar downtown landmarks. The afternoon closes with a grand finale open to everyone: a free performance by the Firelands Symphony Chamber Orchestra at Schade-Mylander Plaza at 6:30 p.m. It's sponsored by the Lange Trust of Sandusky Library. Queens Table Week Leading up to the festival, The Queens Table Week invites the community to taste the season. Starting tonight through Saturday, participating restaurants, cafes, bars and bakeries will each feature one Regency-themed dish, drink or pastry of their own creation, served during regular business hours. A printed tour map and social features will guide guests from table to table across the week Want to go?
