New mural a tribute to veterans

MILAN — The Milan American Legion Post 527 on East Front Street recently celebrated its 101st anniversary with the dedication of a new mural fully funded through a $5,000 local tourism grant. More specifically, it came from the Economic Development, Public Safety, Infrastructure and Community — often shortened to EPIC — Convention and Visitors Bureau. Created by artist Abby Hoffman, the mural honors the American Legion and local veterans while adding a new piece of public art to the Milan community. The project was funded through the bureau's first round of community grants, which support projects focused on economic development, public safety, infrastructure, community improvement and tourism throughout Erie County. Working together with Milan American Legion financial officer Bill Harris, we secured grant funding for this project.
